This magnificent church is home to one of the most beautiful love stories in Europe!
Classified as World Heritage,
the imposing Alcobaca Monastery houses the famous tombs of
D. Pedro I and D. Ines de Castro, placed face to face at the end
of the grandiose central nave.
But this isn't the only reason to visit what is the largest Gothic
style church built in Portugal. The Monastery of Santa Maria de
Alcobaca, whose construction began in 1178, has a rich history
and several areas worth visiting.
As one of the most important Marian shrines in the world, the
Sanctuary of Fatima receives about six million visitors per year,
from all over the world and, curiously, from various religions.
Located in Fatima, this Catholic pilgrimage site preserves the
memory of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three little
shepherds - Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta Marto - in 1917.
Sao Martinho do Porto is considered the best beach for families
in Portugal, thanks to its calm waters and family atmosphere.
Its shell-shaped bay is embraced by a large strip of golden sand
that in the summer welcomes the traditional striped cloth tents.
Among the attractions are nautical activities such as sailing,
boats, stand-up paddle or the giant inflatables in the middle of
the bay. In the low season, trips to the seaside or the seafront
restaurants that serve fish and seafood are among the favorite
attractions!
The fishing village of Nazare has one of the most iconic
beaches in Portugal, with several traditions that have enchanted
visitors from all over the world. Among these, the dried fish
directly on the sand or the typical costume of the Nazarene
women, known for wearing seven skirts, stand out.
The north side of the village connects to the beach through the
lift, which allows a fantastic view over the village and the beach.
You can also walk through the narrow streets of the village
where there is no shortage of restaurants, local produce shops
and many outdoor cafés to sunbathe while resting after a day
on the beach!
Praia do Norte is famous for its giant waves, which between October and March offer visitors from all over the world a unique spectacle. Giant wave surfers like the American Garrett McNamara and others have won world records thanks to this natural phenomenon caused by the North Canyon. Whether you watch from the sand or at the top of Fort of St. Michael, the view is always breathtaking, with or without giant waves!

It's famous for its extensive sandy beach that stretches for more than six kilometres, being the ideal place for those who appreciate tranquility in a natural setting with a horizon to lose sight of. The main access allows you to reach the south-central area of the beach where there's a café and some parking spaces. The wild beauty of the Serra da Pescaria hills embraces this beach, also popular with paragliders and fans of outdoor hiking.

Due to the natural conditions of this beach, known for the steep
cliffs of the Serra dos Mangues, here it's possible to fly

infrastructures and is therefore very appreciated for its natural
beauty and extensive sand.
Nazare's water line offers countless activities for those who
want to take a boat ride. And you have a lot to choose from!
From sightseeing tours to see dolphins or a visit to the famous
North Canyon, where the giant waves surfed by Garrett
McNamara are formed. You can also choose a sailing trip or
surprise your loved one with a romantic sunset excursion.
The Norpark aquatic park is located in an area of more than 45
000 m2, where kids and adults can spend an unforgettable day
having fun in various aquatic equipments such as swimming
pools, slides, jacuzzi, green areas, beach soccer field, among others.
The park also has a restaurant area, snack bars, changing
rooms and a free parking lot.
The Jose Malhoa Museum brings together an impressive
collection of painting, sculpture, medals, drawing and ceramics
from the 19th and 20th centuries. Among the painting
collections, a section dedicated to Caldas da Rainha Ceramics
stands out.
Besides the beauty of the art inside, the exterior of the Museum
is one of its strong points, being in the middle of D. Carlos I
Park. Here you can take a walk among the gardens, row a boat
with your family, go to a café terrace or simply relax on the lawn
in front of the Museum.
The Medieval Town of Obidos is one of the most charming places in Portugal. Inside its walls you'll find cobblestone alleys lined with white houses with the typical blue or yellow stripes. In the various shops you can taste the traditional 'ginja' (cherry liquor) in a chocolate cup or visit charming local shops that sell Portuguese handicraft and souvenirs. At the top of the village, near the Castle’s famous Pousada, you'll find the church of S. Tiago, which has been transformed into a bookstore. Also, don't miss the various viewpoints that offer a breathtaking view over the Silver Coast.

conventual liqueurs with their best specialties, as well as
several international representatives.
New Year's Eve is one of the most awaited moments in Sao
Martinho do Porto, when the town dresses in glitter and
receives visitors and the local community with open arms in a party atmosphere!
The bay lit with fireworks is just one of the reasons to visit Sao
Martinho do Porto on New Year's Eve, where there is also no
lack of live music, restaurants and cafes by the waterfront
where you can taste the delicious regional food and toast to the
new year!
The Carnival of Nazare is one of the most popular events on the Silver Coast and one of the best known in Portugal! The preparation for the festivities begins weeks before with the announcement of the Carnival Kings and the various balls that anticipate the festive atmosphere that invades the town at this time of year. Don't miss the Mar-Alto masquerade ball and the parades on the beach, with floats and hundreds of participants dressed to sing and dance to the various songs created every year by the local groups.
Place: Nazare Village and Beach PortugalThe Holy Week of Obidos is considered one of the most impressive religious manifestations in the Silver Coast of Portugal and attracts to this village many people united by devotion and culture. The festivities begin with the Procession that takes place at the beginning of Lent and is beautifully decorated with flowers. On Palm Sunday the procession recreates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem through the streets of Obidos. The high point of the celebrations takes place on Good Friday with the moving Procession of the Lord's Burial, in which torches light up the streets inside the Castle walls.
